James Galanos

James Galanos (b. 1924) is one of the United States' greatest designers, often compared to the great couturiers of Paris. Recently retired in California, he is known for his intricate construction and flawless workmanship. Each of his garments is as beautiful inside as it is outside. There are more than a dozen Galanos garments in the Historic Collection, given to the University by his niece with his approval.
