Graduate Courses

Design and Merchandising (DM) courses are taken by both Apparel and Merchandising and Interior Design students. Apparel and Merchandising (AM) courses are taken primarily by Apparel and Merchandising students, but are also open to interested Interior Design students. Similarly, Interior Design courses (ID) are taken primarily by Interior Design students, but may be open to interested Apparel and Merchandising students. Courses without a course number are under revision or in development.

AM 546 Theoretical Apparel Design 3 credits Application of theoretical frameworks and computer-aided design techniques for the development of wearable and fiber art.
AM 550 Appearance, Self, and Society 3 credits Analysis of social science theories and concepts as they apply to appearance and dress research.
AM 572 Merchandising Theories and Strategies 3 credits Theoretical perspectives on the design and development of merchandising strategies for U.S. and global production, distribution, and consumption.

Integrated model for research-based design solutions. Critical evaluation and synthesis of scholarly literature.

DM 542 Apparel and Textile Design 3 credits Use of theoretical frameworks for the creation of fiber and wearable art.

DM 563 Care and Exhibit of Museum Collections 3 credits Hands-on experience in management, care, exhibition, and interpretation of museum collections.
