- How can I obtain an application for admission to Colorado State University?
- An application for admission can be obtained from the Office of Admissions in Spruce Hall, or by using the World Wide Web at: http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/Admission/

- How do I arrange a telephone advising appointment?
- Contact the Administrative Assistant in the Department of Design and Merchandising at (970) 491-1629. You will be assigned an academic advisor who will work with you and answer your questions.
- When can I pick up my SMART form? Where do I pick it up?
- After meeting with your Academic Advisor, you may obtain your SMART form from the main office of the Department of Design and Merchandising, located at 150 Aylesworth Hall, SE.
- What are the requirements for transfer students? Who should I talk to regarding transfer evaluation?
- Undergraduate students who have graduated from high school and completed more than nine credits at other institutions must apply as transfer students. Those who have completed nine or fewer semester credits at other institutions must apply for admission as freshmen and must also submit official transcripts of all college-level work attempted. Transfer students currently registered at another institution must submit a list of courses indicating those in which they are presently enrolled and those in which they will enroll prior to entering Colorado State. The transfer evaluation department (970-491-7147) can assist students with any questions regarding the evaluation of transfer credits from previously attended universities.
- What are the tuition and fees at Colorado State University?
- The tuition rates that apply to any succeeding fiscal year will not be known until June of each year. The current year tuition and fee schedule can be found in the current general catalog. You can obtain a general catalog by contacting the Office of Admissions. Tuition and fees for the current year are listed on Financial Aid webpage http://sfs.colostate.edu/E0000.cfm .
- What type of financial aid is available? Where do I go for financial aid assistance?
- Colorado State University offers a variety of financial assistance programs for deserving and needy students. Financial aid programs include scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study. Financial assistance is subject to the financial resources available to Colorado State University. Detailed information on all financial aid programs is available on request from Student Financial Services (office in Administration Annex, room 103) and on the Student Financial Services Web Site at: http://sfs.colostate.edu . Financial aid policies and procedures may change without notice.
- Are there any other expenses I can expect to incur within the majors of the Department of Design and Merchandising?
- For some courses, enrolled students are assessed a uniform fee during registration to cover the costs incurred by the university to offer the courses. For some courses, enrolled students are assessed by the department variable fees based upon actual use of expended materials supplied by the department and used by the student in the creation, construction, and/or fabrication of an object of value such as a class project that becomes the students property; or based upon actual use of expendable materials supplied by the department because of the inability to make individual purchases economically.
- What job opportunities are available for students granted work-study awards? Where do I go to find out about them?
- The work-study program, administered by Student Employment Services, provides part-time employment opportunities for qualified students. Students average 12 hours of work per week and often earn between $2,000 and $2,200 total for academic year. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply for the work-study program. Awards are based on an evaluation of students financial need.
- A merit work-study program is also offered at the university. Students do not have to document financial need to receive merit work-study. Students must find a job, generally on campus, which relates to their academic major. All regularly enrolled students, other than Colorado resident graduate students are eligible to apply. Interested students should contact Student Employment Services.

- What type of classes is required for the different majors and where can I get a check-sheet listing them?
- In addition to the All University Core Curriculum, courses in the major of Apparel and Merchandising with a concentration in Apparel Design and Production would include a focus on apparel design, production, and marketing strategies to enable students to develop the skills to work within the Apparel Industry. With a concentration in Merchandising, students will study in-depth, the process of planning, negotiating, acquiring, selling, and evaluating merchandise throughout the distribution channel. Students acquire knowledge of merchandise, sales techniques, trends in the market place, and customer service. In the Interior Design Major, students will gain competency in fundamental design, design analysis, space planning and programming, and the design of interior space.

- Where can I get a schedule book and/or University Catalog?
- At the Lory Student Center Info. Desk. If you are a currently enrolled student, you can show your student I.D. card and get a schedule book free, otherwise, they are $1.00. - What are the credit requirements for Apparel & Merchandising? Interior Design?
- The program total for a major in Apparel & Merchandising and Interior Design and is 120 credits. The program total for a minor in Merchandising is 22 credits without pre-requisites. There is no longer a minor available for Apparel Design & Production.
- What is meant by the term selective advancement process?
- Due to space demands and accreditation factors, no more than 34 to 36 students are advanced to the sophomore level during any given year. A competitive portfolio review is conducted each Spring Semester. Students not selected for advancement into the Sophomore level of the Interior Design Major or the Apparel Design & Production Concentration will receive advice and counseling regarding other study and career options in the Department of Design and Merchandising and/or other programs in the university.
