ADP Portfolio Review
Industry professionals in the field of apparel design and manufacturing will evaluate portfolios and the twenty students with the highest scores are accepted in the ADP Concentration and into the 200 level ADP courses. After acceptance into the ADP Concentration, students are required to complete the Apparel and Merchandising major and the ADP concentration requirements to graduate.
Students undergoing the ADP Portfolio Review are evaluated on the following:
Portfolio Materials
1. An unofficial CSU transcript
- GPA, cumulative grade average for all CSU courses and transfer credits (2.5 minimum)
- GPA, cumulative grade average of the following courses (2.5 minimum):
- AM 143
- AM 101
- AM 130
- DM 120
2. Following Materials:
- Mini Portfolio (Created in AM 143)
- Trend Board
- Target Market Board
- Technical Sketch Board
- Fabric Rendering Board
- Historic Board Inspiration Board
- Design Line Board
- Sample Notebook (Created in AM 143)
- Section 1
- Section 2
- Section 3
- Section 4
3. Onsite design project (illustration, technical sketch and garment construction)
Students must complete AM 143 - Introduction to Apparel Design, in preparation for the ADP Portfolio Review, which is offered fall semester of each academic year.
Note: Grades received on the Mini Portfolio and Sample Notebook during AM 143 are calculated with the on-site project in February. Students are not required to re-submit the Mini Portfolio or the Sample Notebook a second time.
Originality of Work
It is expected that students will submit his or her original work. Consideration will also be given to the professionalism, presentation and originality of the entire portfolio.
Notification
Results of the Portfolio Review are mailed to students one week following the review process. Students not accepted into the ADP Concentration are advised to meet with academic advisors and the Center for Advising and Student Achievement to discuss alternative degree programs at the University. Student may re-submit to portfolio process the following February if he or she is not accepted into the ADP Concentration.
Second Bachelor's
Students seeking a second Bachelor degree in the ADP Concentration are required to complete AM 143 and submit a portfolio to the ADP Portfolio Review to be accepted into the ADP Concentration.
Transfers from Other Majors at CSU and from Other Institutions
Students currently enrolled at CSU or other institutions and are seeking to transfer into the ADP Concentration are required to complete AM 143 and submit a portfolio to the ADP Portfolio Review to be accepted into the ADP Concentration.
Transfers from Merchandising Concentration to ADP Concentration
Students seeking to transfer from the Merchandising Concentration to the ADP Concentration are required to complete AM 143 and submit a portfolio to the ADP Portfolio Review to be accepted into the ADP Concentration.
Minor
A minor in the Apparel Design and Production Concentration is no longer available.
