ervice-Learning and Community Service Experiences

Interior Design students enrolled in the senior capstone course apply their knowledge and skills to discipline-based community service projects. Through this experience, students collaborate with regional businesses and organizations to envision unique solutions to an array of aesthetic, spatial planning, historic preservation, and sustainable design problems. Projects are selected to provide students with understanding and knowledge of the diverse cultural and functional needs of an identified population.

The capstone class received the 2008 “Exceptional Achievement in Service Learning” award from the Institute for Learning & Teaching at CSU for their contributions to Blue Grouse Health Center and CSU’s Warner College of Natural Resources. Examples of past projects include:

  • Islamic Center of Fort Collins, Fort Collins, CO
  • Berthoud Living Center, Berthoud, CO
  • CSU Department of Human Development and Family Studies (Academic Village), Fort Collins, CO
